Thanks to all who joined us for the Rotary Club of Essex 2024 Shad Bake on June 1, 2024 at the Safe Harbor Essex Island Marina!

The Shad Bake was once again a rousing success with great food, music and camaraderie on a beautiful day on the Connecticut River!

As of 2024 we have increased the amount of our 4 year scholarships to $4,000/ yr for up to four years or $16,000 in total.  This is an increase of $1,000 a year.  Also, we have changed the Trade, Technical and Certificate Program scholarship award to a one-time payment equaling the recipient’s tuition expense up to maximum of $5000.

One of these awards is called the Donald M. Buebendorf, MD Scholarship, named after a former Rotarian. The second scholarship is funded by and administered by the Rotary Club of Essex.

Contributions for Fire Department Defibrillators

Our Rotary Club of Essex officially presented a donation of $10,000 to Essex Fire Engine Co #1 to support their need to replace expiring AED defibrillators and Lucas devices. This contribution covered the purchase of four of nine new AEDs. We met at Essex Fire Engine Co. #1 on Rte. 153 to make the presentation.
